Windows, Doors and Siding Delivered – Let’s Wrap

clock July 30, 2009 11:07 by author Donny Kemick

DSC00445 This week has given us a couple deliveries.  Yesterday we received the window and door shipment, and today we received the siding shipment.  As you can see below, neither are on the house now, but the wrap was completed today.  They should be ready to side and install windows/doors now.  We’re supposed to have a decent morning tomorrow, so hopefully they can get some of the windows and doors in.  The weather hasn’t been the greatest.  I plan on doing a follow up post or 2 on the wrap that they used and the windows and doors we went with.  Be sure to check back.

We Have A Finished Roof

clock July 28, 2009 10:37 by author Donny Kemick

DSC00427I can’t believe it’s been almost a week since my last post!  I’m not slacking, the roof just takes a little time, and we had to fight the weather for a day or so.  They did finish the roof today, which makes me happy because I like the inside of the house to stay dry!

If you read my last post, I mentioned that we went with the CertainTeed Landmark Shingles in Driftwood, and I am very happy with our choice.  It is extremely difficult to tell how a shingle will look on your house based on a sample board.  I’ll be honest and say that I thought the shingles would be darker, but I like the fact that they aren’t black.

Roof Sheathing is Finished, What’s Next?

The framing guys got the rest of the roof sheathing up today, which eases my worries a bit with all of the clouds and rain I see in the forecast for the next 5 days.  While the percentage chance of precipitation is variable from day to day, and over low, I don’t trust the forecasts until I view the hour-by-hour!

On to the Shingles

I was fortunate to talk to one of the GC’s guys this afternoon, and he said they will likely start the shingles tomorrow and finish them on Friday or Monday.  That will REALLY put me at ease, because the OSB sheathing on the roof will no longer be directly exposed.

Next Delivery

It’s look as though the next delivery will be the windows and doors, according to the gentleman I spoke to today.  They would like to have the shingles on before that delivery to make sure there are reliably dry areas to store them.  I asked if the wrap that goes around the house would go up before or after the windows and doors, and he said they’ve done it both ways, so he wasn’t sure which order they’d go in.

Another Update

I will do a run through of the house tonight and see if there is anything else to report on, and do a follow-up post if so.
